Snaps of the Furries

My Life as a Wife

I had such a great time working with the little kids last week that they decided to give me a leaving present... germs. Now I'm not the sort of person why gets sick a lot, but this week I have been feeling horrendous. I'm congested, my throat is sore, I keep losing my voice by the early afternoon and it's leaving me feeling exhausted. Not great when I've got lots to do.

Also the husband is becoming more and more busy at work meaning sometimes I'm not able to contact him for days on end.

All this = me not having very much fun. Huff.

So the other day when some natural light was coming through the windows, I decided to get out the camera and take a few cute shots of the furry things that live here, just to cheer myself up. It was impossible to get a picture of them together, but I promise that they really do like each other!

Making Tracks

My Life as a Wife

So far, I am still enjoying my rekindled relationship with running. However, I have managed to totally FAIL at using the MapMyRUN app.

But Showers, I hear you cry, it's so easy to use and convenient, right there on your phone. Yes my friends, yes it is.

I ran Saturday, Sunday, had a planned rest day on Monday and then went for a shorter run today.

Making a Start

My Life as a Wife

Be kind - I haven't been running in a long time!

I usually run 5km / 3 miles, and my average time used to be just over 10 min / mile. I tend to run quicker outdoors then on the treadmill and it would depend on whether I was doing short bursts of sprinting or a constant more steady pace. Anyway, now that I've told you my life story, today's results:

No More Excuses

My Life as a Wife

I haven't had a gym membership since we moved into our new place (6 months ago), basically because I think the local gyms are too expensive.

I'm a big fan of running, but over winter it has been far toooo cold to pull out my trainers. However, the weather is warming up and spring is sort or, nearly, round the corner.

So you know what that means - No more excuses.

The Hubby has recently done a great job of losing weight for his fitness test (although I now think he looks like he is wasting away!) So starting tomorrow, I'm blowing the dust off my running shoes and digging the green-tea out from the back of the cupboard.

 Wish me luck!

Sunday in the City

My Life as a Wife

Saturday in the City .

Sunday - We started off at The Manchester Museum and had a laugh looking at all the gory skeletons and fossils.

Saturday in the City

My life as a Wife

I live in the city and have done for 4 years, but sometimes life stops you from enjoying what's right on your doorstep. So this weekend, with the lil bro in town for his birthday weekend, I decided to make the most of it and hit the city like a pair of tourists. And you know what? We had a bloody good time.

Husband was home (yay) and we picked lil Bro up from the train station late Friday night. We brought him home, and did balloons and cake, complete with candles and singing. While he liked his cake, he is unfortunately a teenage boy, and therefore decided to massacre it. Despite looking slightly disturbing, don't worry it tasted goooood.

The Lazy Way To Make a Cake

My Life as a Wife

Today there has not been enough hours! I went to visit a school which I LOVED, I'm doing the application form now and keeping my fingers crossed. I'm going to see another school tomorrow, but am not feeling so excited about it. The fact that the schools are an hour away isn't helping my to-do list. It's (not so) little bro's 15th Birthday today, and he's traveling down tomorrow so we can spend the weekend together. Husband is also home tomorrow, and the house is a MESS. Well, actually downstairs is ok. Maybe I can convince him that bathrooms and bedrooms are overrated, and avoid upstairs altogether...?

Anyway, now I've got that off my chest... want to see something yummy? In honor of the lil bro's big day, and because I know how much he likes food, I've made him a cake. The lazy way.

I decided on the Sheep Cake  because those fluffy marshmallows won me over. The source website calls for baking, and piping icing... and I just don't have time for that. Did you not just read my rant?

So, I cheated.

Weekend Get-Away

My Life as a Wife

Hello beautiful bloggers! Sorry that posts have been sparse on the ground for the past few days. I've had a busy weekend but am very much looking forward to now catching up!

Saturday morning did not start well. Firstly I was in work (booo) and then by 9am I had already broken my brolly and got myself some soggy feet - bad times! However, my day quickly improved as I hopped on the train to meet J and go bridesmaid dress shopping, which I will blog about very soon.

A quick catch up with father, just enough time to glam myself up, and I was off out again to celebrate my friend R's 22nd birthday. We tried a new bar which is a bit swankier than the normal pubs we attend, and had ourselves some yummy cocktails.

Classic Cosmo. Sorry about the awkward flash...

Birthday Plans

My Life as a Wife

My brain is tired, so please humor me while I indulge in some procrastination.

I don't think I've mentioned before, but I have 2 younger brothers. I am particularly close with the youngest, he is my little dude and I love spending time with him. It's his birthday at the beginning of March, but it's mid-week so I won't be able to see him on the day. Instead we've planned that he'll come and stay the weekend after. I can't wait to do all of our favourite city things, such as go bowling, eat Yo-Sushi, and have movie night.

Love - Bugs

My Life as a Wife

I don’t get to see as much of my friends as I’d like. We've all uber broke busy, and they're just a little too far away. So with it being Valentines, I decided to spread a little love and let them know I hadn’t forgotten about them. I went out looking for some rude funny Valentines cards to send to my favourite girls.

Going Solo

My Life as a Wife

I am sure that over time, I will share many posts about my wedding, but for now I just want to say something about my experience during planning.

I got engaged at 19 meaning that, surprise surprise, I was the first of my friends to walk down the aisle. Everybody was so excited for me, and wanted to talk about plans for the big day, but none of us had a blumming clue.

So family, they'll be more helpful right? I was lucky enough to be bridesmaid for an Aunt who had a big fabulous wedding. 10 years ago. So her information on prices etc. was at best, a little out. All the family weddings since then have been pretty low key, and we're not really big etiquette people.

So myself and the Mr started our quest for a big, "proper", all-the-trimmings wedding. People would chip in with nice ideas and suggestions, but I wanted to hear peoples reviews of photographers, experience with make-up artists and recommendations for cake flavors. All I can say is
THANK GOD FOR GOOGLE!

Tea and (hot) cakes

My Life as a Wife

Since I moved away it is mostly me who gets in the car, or on the train, to visit friends and family. And let's just say that recently, the few visits my family would make, have turned to none. People have had their excuses reasons, but it has started to feel very much like a one way street.

Anyway, the Mother and I had a recent heart-to-heart, and she promised to come and visit. Well this Saturday, she did. It was only for a few hours, and the snow caused some concern about getting snowed in / out, but it was certainly nice to have her around.
