All Things Wedding #4

Pretty Things

Catch up - All Things Wedding    #1    #2    #3

After the short but sweet ceremony, our guests helped themselves to reception drinks while we mingled outside, listened to the string quartet and took 7,103,479 pictures. OK, that might be an exaggeration, but it felt like that many photos.

For one of our group shots we had guests release purple balloons
After the photo marathon and going all bridezilla on my Mum, it was time to eat! We didn't have time to do the receiving line like planned (I told you we took too many photos!) so the guests were seating and then we made our 'entrance'. I don't really see the point of this big entrance, I mean we were hanging out with you guys like 2 minutes ago? But whatever, the Mr wanted to do it.

I wanted to keep the tables simple and have low center pieces. Ignore ugly carpet...
The AMAZING dessert               Kiddies Menu               Cake Topper                  Reception Drinks
We hadn't really sampled the menu. We know what we like and just kinda picked what sounded good. All the food was lovely, but they really came up trumps with the dessert. Four mini desserts so there was something that everyone liked, and they were all delicious! So many guest snapped a pic of their pudding, I'm taking that as a sign of approval!

After dinner we took MORE photos in the last of the sun.

In the evening the band started playing and people started hitting the bar. We had a BBQ which I literally ate NO food from. I don't think the Mr had any either? I'm sure my Dad and brothers managed to get our moneys worth though.

We released Chinese lanterns, with special red heart shaped ones for me and the hubby. I could gloss over the reality and pretend that it ended "Happily Ever After", but I'm too much of a realist. The truth is, the Mr got drunk. Very drunk. Lots of people (mostly my friends) had been buying him shots and drinks to celebrate. Although trashy, it was in fact hilarious. Although I would like to know why my friends didn't by ME drinks? Hummm...

And that was it, the wedding was over. One engagement ring, 20 months of planning, a LOT of money, five suits, four little white dresses, three purple dresses, one big white dress.. and it was all done and dusted.

I was no longer a bride, I was now a wife

  1. Such a lovely wedding~ Congratulations! I love reading about other people's weddings. I have a little over 2 months to go before my big day, and I feel like I have so much to do... And your cake topper is adorable! I made mine a few weeks ago.

    1. The time will fly by, I can't believe it's so close. I was too lazy to make mine, and had fallen in love with one on Etsy. I managed to convince the Mr to splash the cash by promising to include his 2 cats... sneaky! x
